Why we
to use this software-
We chose to use Microsoft Expression Web instead of the other leading
top website brands and builders because it is the most universal, it
is the most updated software on the market, and is one of the only
software's permitted to be used on the Tulsa Public Schools
computers and budget. This software dynamically centers the webpage,
so that photos are not stretched to where they are distorted. It is
very versatile, and students are able to download a 60 day free
trial before purchasing the product.
Other software competitors include Microsoft FrontPage and Dream Weaver.
Microsoft FrontPage was not the best possible software for
our school to use because the software was old, and was not the
newest published software by Microsoft. Although it lets you have a
free trial, it stretches the screen, so that if you have a wide
screen monitor, it stretches everything to fit the screen. That is a
mistake on the designer’s part. Our chapter did not decide to use
Dream Weaver because you do not get a free trial to see if you would
like it. Dream Weaver was also not going to fit our budget, and we
wanted something efficient and inexpensive.
Planning of webpage-
Our chapter planned the webpage so that the key elements would stay
static, and that just the text frame would change with the menu
choices, or hyperlinks. This helped for easy navigation. It makes a
better look and feel. We also used the website to promote our
Technology Education program by adding helpful tools like the
calculator and flashcards. Also, we incorporated the TSA colors into
our website design.
Basic Elements-
Basic elements are things that make the website possible. Without
them your website would have no navigation or understanding
Header- the introduction to the website, tells a
little bit what the site is about, tells the place that the website
was launched from, and shows who or whom made it
Sidebar- a series of links to different
areas or WebPages of the site, a minor list of major things that you
will be able to visit from the site, our chapter decided to make the
sidebar buttoned for a clearer, more professional looking website
Footer- shows all links and the copyrights, almost
like a sidebar, the main menu
Background- our chapter chose TSA colors and a
shade of gray so that the website would somewhat look like the
national TSA website, it helps show the style of the website, It
helps stand out against the black backsplashes
Hyperlinks- the hyperlinks help to organize
the site, so that you do not cram information all on one text frame,
they can also help organize java scripts so it does not take so long
to load one single text frame
Style Sheets-
Style sheets propose a large breakthrough for Web page designers,
which expands our ability to enhance the appearance of our pages.
While the intentions have been great , the techniques for doing so
have had negative side effects. These style sheets work sometimes,
but not all the time, and can result drastically. Style sheets can
do certain things including use HTML extensions, etc, Style sheets
make it easy to discover the HTML code, but have numerous faults.
